TITLE: A Sketch of the Life of Col. Daniel Whiting of Dedham, Mass., 1732-1807.

PUBLICATION INFORMATION: Printed for private circulation by The American Bank Note Co., Type Dept., New York, 1881.
FORMAT: 122 page
CONTENTS: Nathaniel Whiting emigrated in 1638 from England to Lynn, MA, and soon moved to Dedham. He married Hannah Dwight in 1643. Daniel Whiting (1732-1807), direct descendant in the fourth generation and grandfather of the author, married Mehetable Haven in 1761, and served in both the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War. Includes genealogical and biographical notices of his descendants and of the Haven and Newell families, with extracts from family letters by the author.

FORMAT: 80 pages.
CONTENTS: Updates the genealogical record of the Whiting family of Dedham, enabling the descendants to connect their own families with the immigrant ancestor, Nathaniel Whiting. The "Register Plan" is used. The information was taken from public records and the usual sources of genealogical information, with the idea of making a special feature of the abstracts of wills, deeds, etc. Reference by volume and page to the records in the various county registries is given in each case, as well as frequent cross references to published genealogies of allied families. Includes index.

PUBLICATION INFORMATION: Privately printed at the Commonwealth Press, Worcester, Mass., 1955.
FORMAT: 216 pages.
CONTENTS: Traces the Whiting family from the immigrant ancestor, Nathaniel Whiting, to Paul Whiting who dropped the 'g' from his name to distinguish himself from a distant cousin who kept a tavern in Sutton. The author, a descendant of this Paul Whiting, traced the Whitin line and those of allied families, some of which include the family history in England. Gives references and includes index.

TITLE: Whiting Genealogy - Nathaniel Whiting and His Minnesota Descendants.

PUBLICATION INFORMATION: Privately published by the author, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1978.
FORMAT: 48 pages.
CONTENTS: The Preface outlines the author's background for the book. Chapter I, Nathaniel Whiting's English Ancestry, is a summary of Nathaniel's ancestry and includes a Sketch Pedigree of Nathaniel's line back to Rev. Giles Whiting in England. Chapter II, Nathaniel Whiting in New England, gives a brief background of Nathaniel. Chapter III, Samuel Whiting through Timothy and Amos Whiting, covers the generations between Nathaniel and the Whiting descendants who migrated to Minnesota. Chapter IV, The Minnesota Descendants of Nathaniel Whiting, is the major focus of this book, covering 130 individuals, in alphabetical order. Chapter V, Future Generations, provides forms in which to document new generations. Includes a Preface, Table of Contents, and an Amended Addendum.

CONTENTS: The Whitings in America originated from four families who may have descended from the same English line - Nathaniel Whiting (1609-1688) came from Boxford, England, to Lynn, MA, in 1638 and moved to Dedham, MA, in 1641; Rev. Samuel Whiting (born 1597) came from Boston, England, and settled in Lynn, MA, in 1636; Col. William Whiting came from Boxford, England, in 1633 and settled in Hartford, CT; James Whitinge settled in Virginia in 1624. Cites references and publications used and includes a historical section with excerpts of selected sources, and an account of the direct lines back to England from Nathaniel.

    Abstract:   Robert Lytle came from the Midwest to Oregon, where he began a law practice in Vale, Oregon in 1916. From 1920-1925, Lytle was Malheur County District Attorney, and served as city attorney for Vale, 1922-1967. The collection includes a few personal files, but most of the collection consists of selected case files representative of a varied practice, including cases regarding water rights. Miscellaneous files include correspondence in political matters, Oregon State Bar Association, Japanese-Americans in Malheur County, and Oregon State Bar v. Weinstein.
