Newell Whiting) Fairbank-Whiting Genealogy 1. JOSHUA FAIRBANK, son of Joshua Fairbank, married LYDIA ELLIS. Occupation: Blacksmith. Residence: E. Douglas, Massachusetts. 2. JOHN FAIRBANK, second son of Joshua Fairbank, was born August 4, 1766 in Douglas, Massachusetts, and died September 9, 1838 in Cattaraugus, New York. He married EXPERIENCE BAILEY November 26, 1789 in Douglas, Massachusetts. She was November 3, 1771, and died November 2, 1834. Occupation: Cabinet Maker. Residence: Cattaraugus, New York. 3. FREEBORN G. FAIRBANK, sixth son of John Fairbank, was born August 30, 1803 in Readsborough, Bennington Co., Vermont, and died April 22, 1892. He married SUSAN RITTER November 15, 1827 in Clear Creek, Chautaugua Co., New York. She was born September 22, 1808 in Whitehall, New York, and died October 25, 1844 in Johnstown, Wisconsin. Occupation: Farmer 4. SUSAN FAIRBANK, third daughter of Freeborn G. Fairbank, was born March 12, 1833 in New York state, possibly Cattaraugus or Chauttaugua county, and died February 1913. She married NEWELL WHITING August 23, 1849 possibly Waupun, Wisc. (they lived in Waupun). He was a carpenter and builder. He was born 1829, son of Timothy Newell Whiting, and died 1909. He had a twin brother, Sewell Whiting. The Whiting family migrated from Douglas, Mass., to St. Marie, Wisc. 5. DUMONTE ALVIN WHITING, only child of Susan & Newell Whiting, was born October 15, 1852 St. Marie on Fox River, and died 1912 in Buffalo, New York. He married MARY G. REDFIELD April 4, 1883 in Clyde, New York. She was born April 27, 1854, and died May 5, 1887. Occupation: Stationer. 6. GLADYS REDFIELD WHITING, only child of DuMonte and Mary, was born June 17, 1886 in Buffalo, New York, and died December 20, 1964. She married L. PALMER HUNT September 21, 1910 in Buffalo, New York. He was born September 7, 1883, and died July 5, 1939. 7. BARBARA HUNT, second child of Gladys & Palmer, was born April 29, 1915 in Buffalo, New York. She married BERNARD F. TONER January 10, 1964 in New York, New York. He was born June 15, 1911. 8. CAROL E. TONER, oldest child of Bernard by first marriage, b. May 28, 1941, New York, New York.
