1. JOHN SHERWOOD was born August 17, 1786 in Connecticut, and died November 27, 1849 in Jefferson County, Wisconsin. He married SALLY WOODWARD October 20, 1812 in Little Falls, New York (marriage year could be 1813). She was born May 19, 1793 in New York, and died January 14, 1882 in Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. John Sherwood received a land patent for 40 acres in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, in 1848.

2. BETSY ANN SHERWOOD was born July 15, 1813 in Meadville, Crawford, Pennsylvania, and died December 17, 1841. She married PHILETUS McNITT. He was born 1808 in New York.

3. SALLY MARIA SHERWOOD was born 1815 in Pennsylvania, and died 1903 in Whitehall, Wisconsin. She married SAMUEL LINCOLN PARSONS Abt. 1830, son of SIMEON PARSONS and NANCY CARTER. He was born January 28, 1809, and died 1852 in Wisconsin.

4. ANDREW LAKE SHERWOOD was born February 17, 1817 in Cherry Valley, New York, and died February 28, 1905 in De Smet, Kingsbury, South Dakota; bur. De Smet, in the Sherwood family plot. He married NANCY PHILENA PARSONS Abt. 1838 in Little Falls, Herkimer, New York, daughter of SIMEON PARSONS and NANCY CARTER. She was born August 9, 1818 in Pennsylvania, and died October 31, 1876 in Whitehall, Trempealeau, Wisconsin. According to the 1880 census for Whitehall, Trempealeau, Wisconsin, Andrew Sherwood was 63 years old, a widower, and a Justice of the Peace. He was listed as the head of household with daughter Nettie M. and son Carter P. residing with him.

KILLED IN AUTO ACCIDENT
Miss Esther Sherwood, of Fairmont, Minn., sister of Mrs. L. E. Whiting, Mrs. J. E. Floran and C. P. Sherwood of this city, was killed in an accident in Minneapolis last Thursday when a truck struck a Ford in which she was riding. Miss Sherwood was the only surviving sister of the local relatives, another sister having been killed about two years ago when a car struck her on the streets of her home town. Miss Sherwood was 75 years of age and had been a resident of Fairmont since 1880. She visited in De Smet a number of years ago.

Aubrey & Laura Sherwood 17. AUBREY HOWELLS SHERWOOD was born November 7, 1894 in De Smet, Kingsbury, South Dakota, and died December 19, 1987 in De Smet, Kingsbury, South Dakota. He married LAURA CONSTANCE ENGEBRETSON June 27, 1925 in Garretson, South Dakota, daughter of JOHN ENGEBRETSON and CHRISTINE HOVE. She was born October 29, 1898 in Garretson, South Dakota, and died July 11, 1992 in De Smet, Kingsbury, South Dakota.

A native of De Smet, Aubrey grew up and attended school in De Smet. He graduated from South Dakota State College in 1917, served in the Air Force during World War I, and joined his father in the newspaper publishing business in 1919. He retired from the newspaper business in 1977, but continued in his capacity as a De Smet promoter in an office downtown.

He is best known for his encouragement of the Harvey Dunn collection at South Dakota State University and for his devotion to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Society. Aubrey was a member of the United Church of Christ, the Masonic Lodge, The Order of Eastern Star, the Kiwanis Club, the American Legion, and the South Dakota Press Association, having served as its president.
